Flying the Line – new Flight Packages

Challenging Departure from Innsbruck

Challenging Departure from Innsbruck

For many of us, we get on an airliner and get off it again at the other end, but what about the pilots? Certainly on some flights they get off as well, but in many cases they stay on board, preparing the aircraft for its next leg and then taking a new load of passengers to another destination.

This is called “Flying the Line” and it’s what pilots are doing every day around the world. It can be demanding and it is definitely draining, requiring that pilots maintain their concentration through out multiple take offs, cruise legs and landings.

Do you have what it takes to fly the Line?

We are introducing a new set of Flight Packages that help our customers experience “Flying the Line.” Each package will involve flying between multiple destinations while keeping to a tight schedule, pushing you to achieve your best throughout the journey. You will really test your skills and knowledge of the aircraft and its systems, applying all that you’ve learned so far in real world scenarios.

Initially raised as a “Round Robin” concept, these flight packages last about 3 hours and run through a number of different legs in a given area of the world, in some cases returning to the airport they started at. We have three packages currently being developed including flying around the Hawaiian islands, a European tour (including a challenging approach into Innsbruck in Austria (LOWI) and, the first one to be released, a series of flights around the mountains of Colorado that ends with a night landing at Las Vegas (KLAS). Due to the special nature of these packages, we are only offering them in the evenings of Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday at this stage.

For each leg of the package, you will review your flight plan, program the FMC, push back from the gate, fly the leg and shut down at the other end before quickly starting the next leg. These flights are not for the faint of heart nor for those who are meeting the simulator for the first time. They do, however, make a great challenge for members of our Flying Club or those who want to step up a level and see if they have what it takes.

By the time you complete the legs in the package, you will be drained but exhilarated, having delivered hundreds of passengers to multiple destinations. You will have completed challenging arrivals and flown to some amazing locations, all combined in a realistic schedule that lets you experience what it is like to fly airliners for a living.
