We’re getting ready to close out our worst flight experience ever competition where the winner will receive a free 30 minute session in our simulator. The entries we’ve received so far have been amazing and describe some terrible flights on commercial airliners.
If you think you have a horror story to tell us, be it screaming kids, broken aircraft, industrial action or unfriendly staff, go to our competition page and put your entry in.
We’ve had a few common themes to the stories we’ve received, including:
- Ben had a number of individual events that when all added together created a very BAD flight
- Jill, Ben, Grant & Marti have all encountered some very bad weather
- Jeannette was impacted by another passenger’s actions
- Paul had fun with fog
- Terence had a heavy take off and struggle to gain altitude
- Sharon & Liel copped tarmac strandings
Some of the phrases we’ve read include:
- “There was a 2 hour delay in departure due to a baggage handler strike…”
- “While circling we were hit by lightening…”
- “all a sudden the engines sounded as if they weren’t working anymore …”
- “At the last moment the plane started climbing at an alarming rate.”
- “The ‘flight’ continued at about 20 knots above stall as we floundered around between the islands and the fishing boats…”
- “The turbulence started to kick in as we got lower…”
- “…it sure beats been squashed between two large business men…”
- “…sending the 25-30 degree bank to something more like 45!”
- “…a huge gust of wind caught the right wing of that 767 and she tilted what must have been 60%…”
Check out the stories already written up and by all means add yours to the pool. You never know, we may decide that yours really is the worst flight experience ever!
