Have you ever wanted to take your family up to the cockpit and show them what it’s like? Believe it or not, many airline pilots want to do the same thing but cannot.
Due to the many security measures introduced over the past few years, pilots are unable to take their family members into “the office” so they can experience flying a commercial jet airliner.

Our cockpit from a different angle
Our simulator is a fixed base glass cockpit synthetic Flight Training Device (FTD) modelled on the Boeing 737-800NG. It has been certified as a Synthetic Flight Trainer (SFT) to Category B under the FSD2 regulations by both the Civil Aviation Authority in New Zealand and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority in Australia.
We’re sure you’ll agree that this system provides an excellent platform for an introduction to jet flying and the glass cockpit environment.

Take a peek at our cockpit
Many people are interested in just seeing what the inside of a 737 cockpit looks like. Some want to check out our simulator before they commit to buying one of our
Flight Packages.
If you’re in the city and want to have a look at our simulator, the best time to drop by is between 2pm and 3pm every day. This is when our instructors take their lunch breaks, so the simulator is generally not being used and one instructor is always on hand to let you have a look inside.
While visiting the simulator, you can also check out our wide range of merchandise available, including clothing, books, aircraft models and cockpit DVDs.
Earlier this week a caller to radio 3AW was lamenting the loss of cockpit access in the post-911 world. Fortunately Check Captain Carlo wasn’t busy flying or arranging new deals and was actually listening in at the time. Showing the same skills he uses to survive a V1 cut on a wet runway, Carlo quickly called up and got through to Denis Walter, explaining how Flight Experience Melbourne could help let people experience the cockpit now that security has closed the doors.
We’re working to get audio from the station and will include it here if we get it.

Virgin Blue 737
Imagine you were given the opportunity to sit on the flight deck of a number of Virgin Blue 737 flights around Australia, this would be the video you would take. While not as technically in depth as the new
ITTV Cockpit DVDs we’ve recently added, this is our most popular DVD as it provides a view of the flying that’s going on around Australia as you read this. The familiar landscape, accents and procedures of Australian commercial flying certainly help to make this a fun DVD to watch.
